Storytelling by Interview

Filmmakers seek to tell interesting stories, but each of us bring different perspectives, skills and styles to the art. An approach I’m passionately developing creates in-depth character sketches through on-camera interviews. I truly love to evoke emotion from my interview subjects while giving the viewer insight about the underlying personalities behind the dialogue.

What is emerging in my work is a style of filmmaking that presents people in full – with scenes of the interview subject doing what they are passionate about, such as working or practicing an art or talent. I feel it is important to film the person outside of the studio and away from the narrow view of the interview chair. These ambient scenes cultivate the individual’s personality traits and characteristics, enhancing the storyline.
